About a year ago I posted a story about the fact that an Aquaman movie was being adapted for a possible film debut. As I said a year ago… I like Aquaman, and I certainly love my comic book movies (either DC Comics or Marvel Comics ones.. I don’t care) but I just don’t know if I see this idea working. Comic book movies have taken a down turn in quality recently (except for Batman). Anyway, we haven’t heard much about the project since then… until now.
The good folks over at MovieHole are reporting that Mark Wahlberg has been hear dropping hints that he may be interested in the project as a new franchise for himself since it appears he’s been dropped from consideration in the Splinter Cell project. Here’s what they had to say:
Talking to Suicide Girls today, Wahlberg says that might be changing. Director James Cameron’s apparently mentioned to Wahlberg that he’d make a good “Aquaman”. “Yeah that’s kind of happened before but now…it’s crazy. Jim Cameron was joking around saying “We should really do this thing” and everybody’s all like we should do Aquaman together”, says Wahlberg.
Ironically, Wahlberg produces the show “Entourage” based on his life in Hollywood. In the show, star Vinnie Chase (Adrian Grenier) is playing the film version of “Aquaman” but almost didnt because of the ugly costume. Hmmm.
Now this would be interesting. I still don’t know how feasible it is to do this kind of project and make it work… but if Mark Wahlberg got on board it would certainly give it a lot more credibility. Maybe James Cameron would get in on it too? We’ll have to wait and see… but I’ve still got my doubts.
