Readers Lives #2

ReadersLives.jpgWell I’ve received enough interesting emails for a second round of Readers Lives, and if this keeps up then it might get its own page, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

There were a good few others I could have included, but I didn’t want to crowd it out, or because of my EIFF involvement they’ve gone out of date. So apologies if you’re one of those people, but keep sending the emails in.

Thing is though, if this is going to work we need some interesting emails from you guys…so get thinking, get searching and get writing!

This time round we’re looking at the fake but funny Christopher Walken as President, buying a movie credit in a real movie, and a strange hidden video clip on the new Sin City DVD.

Actors for President
Oh, this has been all over the Internet but Brad and Herbert both dropped me a note with links to the site called Christopher Walken for President. You can guess what it’s all about, a very bizarre idea but one which has had the Internet movie community buzzing with talk. Could he be a good President? Could it be real?

Totally denied officially and there’s no chance of it happening, but an interesting thought still. Walken as President. Well he diverted disaster before by destroying the reputation of a President who was to start a nuclear war, so would you vote for him? I feel a larger post after this coming on…

Ebay your name in movie credits
This is a superb idea for funding a movie from Kennedy.

At 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 16th, The Beast of Bottomless Lake became the first film to sell a place in film history through eBay. Executive producer credits, product placement and even cameos are being auctioned off in the on-line community of eBay

Superb idea, and something that maybe John should think about, product placing the Movie Blog into a movie? That’s a great idea, and funding it at the same time!

The movie itself sounds bizarre, and more can be read about it over at their official site, as well as finding the ebay links.

The Beast of Bottomless Lake is a mockumentary that follows a group of academics seeking to unveil Okanagan’s legendary lake serpent, the Ogopogo. The Beast of Bottomless Lake is described as “The Office” meets “Jacques Cousteau” with a little bit of “Jaws” thrown in for good measure.

Hidden video on Sin City DVD
Stephen has perhaps one of the most interesting stories of this edition with the following piece of information:

I purchased the new SIN CITY dvd and found something kinda puzzling on it. There is an extra .VOB file on it (VTS_02_0.VOB) which contains episode 4 “Dancing head” of “the Requiem from the darkness” Anime series. There is no way to play this file unless you happen to decrypt the file or DVD so that you can put it on your hard drive and watch it on your computer.

That’s really interesting. If there’s no licence for the video, but it can be ripped off and played, then it begs the question of if the Studio are going to have to recall the DVD’s and replace them? Has anyone else noticed this on their DVD copy?
