The 40-Year-Old Virgin is probably the comedy I’ve most been looking forward to this summer. The premise sound like it has a lot of potential for laughs, and so far I’ve never seen Steve Carell go wrong. The 40-Year-Old Virgin dos carry the danger of just being an “American Pie” for older folks… but I’ll take my chances.
So far, the reviews coming in are mostly quite positive (which is rare for this kind of comedy). The only thing that matters to me in this sort of film is “does it make me laugh a lot”? According to the critics so far… it does. Here what they have to say:
“You are hereby advised not to bring an actual soda to the comedy, because you’ll laugh so hard you’ll spit it out all over the seat in front of you.”
Phil Villarreal, ARIZONA DAILY STAR“One of the funniest movies ever made.”
Joshua Tyler, CINEMABLEND.COM“The 40 Year-Old Virgin is buoyantly clever and amusing, a comedy of horny embarrassment that has the inspiration to present a middle-aged virgin’s dilemma as a projection of all our romantic anxieties.”
Owen Gleiberman, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
Well sign me up! As of right now The 40-Year-Old Virgin is carrying a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes. Pretty impressive for this kind of comedy. It’ll be the first one I see this weekend.
