Jason Statham gets more action

Yippie Kay Mate, a'right?I think this is it for Jason Statham, I think he’s set to be typecast as the next action hero to take the mantle from other such sexy, heroic, bald men as Bruce Willis.

Okay he’s been in quite a few bigger movies, but he’s always playing a bolt on character, and there’s not a lot for him to do. I think Transporter and The Italian Job really began to change things for him in Hollywood.

I think it’s great, he’s got a gerat presence onscreen, he really is tough and exudes the qualities that you’d want in a hero, and he also fits in perfectly with the more standard kind of character, as we’ve seen from such movies as Snatch. We’ve also watched his performances grow, I mean seeing The One where he had to play something other than a Londoner in his own style was a bit painful, but you can see he’s learnt a lot more since then.

So it’s good news from Coming Soon to see that he’s set for another action movie, and this one has an interesting plot. You can just imagine the selling line, “it’s D.O.A. (yes I used the newer film!) meets Collateral“!

…action-thriller Crank…with Transporter 2 star Jason Statham set to star.

The mayhem-driven film will track a hit man’s one-day rampage through the streets of Los Angeles after learning he’s been poisoned. The film is set to begin shooting in Los Angeles in October.
