Looks like Blade is getting a TV Show. Hot on the heels of the news that Terminator is getting a TV show, now here comes Blade. A year and a half ago I would have been thrilled to hear news of a Blade TV show, but after seeing the car wreck that was Blade Trinity I just don’t know.
And for all you Blade fans out there, don’t get your hopes up about Wesley Snipes doing to roll… he’s not. I guess this TV show idea will kill any hopes for a 4th Blade film (which may be a good thing). The good folks over at SuperHeroHype gives us the following:
Based on the comic book and film franchise of the same name, Blade centers on a half-man, half-vampire warrior endeavoring to save the human race from a demonic underworld. Feature screenwriter David Goyer (Batman Begins, the “Blade” trilogy) is executive producing and co-writing the script with the comic’s author Geoff Johns. New Line Television is producing.
Spike committed to the project in spring and production is set to begin November 14 in Vancouver. Should Blade get a series pickup, Spike executives are eyeing a June 2006 premiere.
I guess the fact that it’s on Spike is good news. They seem to be pretty dedicated to giving guys cool stuff… but we’ll see. The only question I have is will Jessica Biel be in it showing off her iPod every ten minutes?
