I’ve been following a few movie projects that are blogging just now – I wish I knew about more though! – and it’s been fascinating reading about their progress and the real challenges and issues they’ve faced along the way. Well now they’re done…except they’re not!
So the movie is finished. Yep. It still feels pretty great. But that doesn’t mean we’re sitting around with nothing to do, that would be nice, I guess, but quickly would become dull, I think. The past week or so we’ve dedicated more time to working on the DVD we’ll be giving out in lieu of the film. It will include a trailer (edited by Elizabeth Santoro), a behind the scenes (edited by Will Underwood) and a First Look featurette (edited by Cody Shelton.) Yes, if someone volunteers to help out we definitely take advantage of the offer.
Tonight, for the first time, I watched Liz’s cut of the trailer. Great job Liz! It’s a daunting task, putting a trailer together. Because not only does she have to capture the mood, but also get people excited and curious about the movie, without giving too much away. Tricky. I think Liz did a wonderful job of showing enough, but not too much. I’m thrilled.
I thoroughly recommend taking a look through the archives of this site, especially if you’re thinking about making a movie yourself, or you’re starting on the journey. However, this one is far from over. They have the DVD to create, festivals and promotions to attend, they’re even talking about their Sundance application.
Big well done to them for getting so far, I’ve seen some footage through the site and it looks really well shot. I’m really interested to see how it all turns out and the work ahead of them. Then where this movie leads them.
