Potter Actress Katie Leung best newcomer?

KatieLeung.jpgKatie Leung who appeared briefly in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a nominee for the Outstanding Newcomer Award in the 2006 Asian Excellence Awards.

Now I can understand that this award ceremony is only for Asians so that narrows the field in the Newcomer category, but surely not to the point that it would pick out an actress who has appeared so briefly onscreen. No matter how many people have now seen her on a big screen, her part could hardly be described as expansive enough to show her acting talents surely? I think a lot of this is down to her perceived screen time in the next movie and not so much what she has done.

Of course I could be wrong, perhaps the choices for Asian newcomer were pretty low this year, I’m not sure, but I can’t see that her short performance was enough to impress. Mind you, she is very cute! From Cinematical.
