Casino Royale continues to try and get press headlines with it’s dubious casting rumours. Do you know we’ve been through about ten possible female leads already? It’s worse than the rumours for Bond himself. Well now supposedly the casting has been completed…yeah.
According to Commmander Bond through IGN:
Reportedly cast as the villain Demetrius, a character first revealed by IGN FilmForce this past week, is French thesp Simon Abkarian (The Truth About Charlie). Abkarian’s name first surfaced a few days ago for the role of the shady Greek gambler and money launderer…
…For the role of Solonge, Demetrius’ love interest, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has reportedly approved 27 year-old Italian actress Catrina Murino for the part. The IMDB lists the actress’ name as Caterina Murino not Catrina, and adds that she is a former Miss Italy contestant.
Finally, Le Parisien claims that French actor-martial artist Seydina Balde (Unleashed) has also joined the cast of Casino Royale. His role is most likely that of Sudanese rebel army commander Solari, a role that pop star Seal had once been rumored for.
There’s still another semi-key role reportedly being hammered out, but that’s the list so far. I’m kind of wondering what all the fuss was about, and surprised at the lack of names banded here considering the huge names already listed for the female lead. A reflection of the movie to come perhaps?
There is one final role announced though, that of the car. The new Aston Martin DBS is chosen (superb!) according to Moviesonline.
