The new Dirty trailer has hit the net, and no, it’s not an extended version of the Christine Aguilera music video. Dirty is a street cop drama staring Cuba Gooding Jr. (who is actually FINALLY taking on a serious dramatic role) as a “Dirty” police officer.
The synopsis for the film goes something like this:
Dirty, an edgy, suspenseful and action-packed story about a day in the life of two corrupt cops going for one final score. Gang member-turned-cop Armando Sancho (Clifton Collins Jr./Capote) begins to question the life he and his partner Salim Adel (Cuba Gooding Jr.) have chosen. Sancho must decide whether to heed his conscience or his loyalty to his fellow officers as the two rogue cops agree to run a lucrative, illegal operation for the station’s top brass (Keith David and Cole Hauser).
Sounds good to me. As a matter of fact the whole Dirty trailer looks really good too, and Cuba Gooding Jr. looks like he’s finally ready to turn in a performance to justify himself getting that Oscar a few years back.
The only problem I have with this project… something that rang in my head the entire time I was watching the trailer… was the fact that it seems I’ve seen this movie before. Oh yeah, that’s right… it was called TRAINING DAY! Seriously… just put Denzel’s face on Cuba’s body and you’d never know you weren’t watching a Training Day trailer.
Anyway, don’t take my word for it (heaven knows I’ve been wrong before). Go on over and take a look at the Dirty trailer for yourself and then tell me what you think. You can see the Dirty trailer here.
