Hoodwinked 2

despite not being received with huge open arms by the critics or fans alike, the fact that Hoodwinked pushed itself into the #1 spot at the boxoffice has apparently sealed the deal for a sequel to get into the works. Yup… there’s gonna be a Hoodwinked 2 that shall apparently be titled “Hood vs. Evil (ok I’ll admit that’s pretty clever).

The good folks over at CinemaBlend give us the following:

According to The Weinstein Company, the sequel will see a doubled budget and that talks began with headlining star Anne Hathaway to return for the sequel which is tentatively titled Hood vs. Evil. The storyline will see Little Red training with a covert group called the Sisters of the Hood and then sent out by the Happily Ever After Agency to investigate the disappearance of Hansel and Gretel. The hope is to have other characters from the first movie return, as well as the addition of new characters.

Right up front I have to admit that I haven’t seen Hoodwinked yet. There was just too much damn NFL football playoffs this weekend! :) But I’ve been underwhelmed by the promos and the visual style of the flick sort of turned me off. I’ll have to wait and see.

But a money maker is a money maker. And if the captains of the good ship Weinstein think Hoodwinked 2 = profit.. then more power to them.
