Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room is (in my opinion) easily the best documentary of the year. I still remember my friend Wormwood first telling me about it and how good it was…. he wasn’t wrong. It’s one of those documentaries that everyone should see.
Enron is still and underdog for the Oscar going up against the sentimental powerhouse that is “March of the Penguins”, but it just nabbed it’s first big award. The good folks form Yahoo News give us this:
The writer/director of “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room” is the second winner of the Writers Guild of America’s award for best documentary writing, the union said Wednesday. Alex Gibney, who also has been nominated for a documentary feature Academy Award, was set to receive the honor from actor James Woods during a ceremony in Hollywood in Wednesday evening.
Bravo! Here’s hoping it gets it’s due at the Oscars this year. It really does deserve it.
