Dallas The Movie Director Quits Because of J-Lo?

Robert Luketic, the (former) director the upcoming movie version of Dallas, has reportedly walked away from the film. WOW! So why would a director, who has a chance to work on such a high profile project like Dallas suddenly up and walk away. Reports say it’s because he didn’t like the casting (more on that in a minute).

Sealer sent me this newswire release:

Director Robert Luketic has abruptly quit the big screen remake of the hit 1980s TV show Dallas, because he was unhappy with some of the casting choices. The Legally Blonde film-maker was set to start shooting in October And key cast members are still being finalized. Among those actors already on board to play members of the Ewing clan are John Travolta as JR, Jennifer Lopez as Sue Ellen, Luke Wilson as Bobby, and Shirley MacLaine as Miss Ellie. A source tells US magazine People that the director was unhappy with some of the studio’s choices for the roles and decided to walk away from the film. No details were given regarding which stars the director objected to. Doctor Dolittle director Betty Thomas is being considered as a possible replacement for Luketic.

Now, I’m just speculating here… so take what I’m about to say with a grain of salt:

Names like Travolta and Luke Wilson and MacLaine have been attached to the Dallas project for some time now, so I would assume (and you know what your mother said about assuming) that if he had a major problem with any of those names Luketic would have walked a long time ago. One of the more recent names being attached is Jennifer Lopez. And look at this… Robert Luketic had to work with Lopez once on the horrible “Monster-In-Law“. Could it be that he dislikes working with Lopez so much that it made him walk off the project? I think the evidence points to that… but remember, I’m just speculating here.

Your thoughts?
