A New Stargate Movie

stargate movieI liked the first Stargate film… didn’t love it… but I certainly liked it. Would it surprise you to know that the TV show (Stargate SG-1) is actually the longest running Sci-Fi show of all time? It’s not a bad show either.

The universe that the Stargate Team has been able to develop over the last 10 years is pretty expansive and very creative, open to TONS of story possibilities… so it really shouldn’t surprise anyone that the show’s producer is now talking about another Stargate film, as well as a 3rd Stargate TV show. The good folks over at Cinescape give us the following:

“I know there will be a movie made,” Wright said. “I know there will likely be another series made, whether I make it or not. It’s just too good a vehicle for storytelling. This is exactly what Jonathan [Glassner] and I recognized 10 years ago, when we created the series. The Stargate is dramatically, and in terms of storytelling, a perfect vehicle from which to launch characters and tell stories. That’s why it will go for years to come.”

Yeah sign me up. The Stargate universe has a lot of interesting characters and I’d loke to see more of its story told on the big screen. Your thoughts?
