Danny Glover is one those actors who we just don’t talk about enough around here (and that’s totally my own fault). I have never… ever… EVER seen this guy turn in a bad performance. Don’t get me wrong, the man has been in some stinker films from time to time… but never once could that be blamed on him or the performance he gave in it.
The man was sadly overshadowed by Mel Gibson in the Lethal Weapon films… which is too bad, because I though Sergeant Roger Murtaugh was one of the BEST characters in any buddy film in history. He brought so much to that franchise. As a side note, I never saw him better than in his small role in The Royal Tenenbaums.
Anyway, the good folks over at Cinema Confidential are reporting that Glover is basically all signed up to appear in the new flick “Be Kind, Rewind”. They give us the following:
Danny Glover is in final negotiations to star in Michel Gondry’s “Be Kind, Rewind” for New Line Cinema. He will join Jack Black and Kirsten Dunst, both of whom have already joined the film. The movie has a video store clerk (Jack Black) who becomes magnetized at a local power plant. He accidentally erases all the videotapes at the local video store owned by Glover’s character. Instead of telling the store owner what happened, Black and his friend decide to re-create the films using the townspeople as actors in order to keep the one customer who keeps the store alive – an elderly lady.
Sounds interesting. But I’m more interested because of Glover’s involvement than the premise of the film.
