Finally a SANE Church Response to Da Vinci

The way to fight bad or just incorrect ideas is not to try to silence those ideas (you’d think the people who would understand that idea the most is the Church considering they went through hundreds of year of being put to death in an attempt to wipe their faith out), but rather to confront those ideas with better ideas or better facts.

It always dismays me when I see a church group to to boycott, or otherwise tell people not to see a certain movie (in this case The Da Vinci Code) just because it has some wrong ideas. It’s a movie for heaven’s sake!!!! (pardon the pun)

Yahoo news is reporting about a Church group that finally seems to get it. Instead of trying to fight The Da Vinci Code, they’re encouraging people (through their own big media campaign) to see it, and then encouraging people to actually look into the “real” facts afterwards. Challenging ideas with what you think are better ideas instead of trying to silence them. Good on them.
