A few months ago on The Audio Edition, we talked about how doing audio commentaries that you could download off the internet and bring with you into the theater on an ipod or some other MP3 device would be a great idea. Around the same time, the guys over at ViewAskew dropped us a note to let tell us they listen to our podcast. And now this news that Kevin Smith is going to be releasing an Audio Commentary for Clerks II for people to download so that they can listen to it while watching the flick.
Coincidence? I think NOT! Well… ok… it probably is coincidence… but it makes me feel like a big man that Kevin Smith got the idea from us… so I’m sticking with that.
The good folks over at JoBlo give us this:
Kevin Smith has already recorded an audio commentary for CLERKS II that will be available for download onto your iPod and allow you to listen to a Director’s Commentary in the theater. How cool is that? It’s unclear at this point whether the commentary will be available for free or made available to purchase but either way, it’s a fantastic marketing idea (and just a damn cool one to boot). You know you’re going to see it once and die hard View Askew fans will have to go see it again in theaters with their iPod and Kevin’s commentary running. It’s a must. Give whoever came up with this idea a fat promotion and count me in.
So as you’re sitting in that theater and enjoying the commentary from Kevin Smith on your iPod, just say to yourself “Thank God for the Audio Edition… Thank God for the Audio Edition”!!! Yeah we know… Smith probably didn’t get the idea from us… but say it anyway. It’s good for the soul. (Thanks to Larry for the heads up)
