We’ve talked before about the whispers of a Knight Rider movie. Well, it looks like those whispers are turning into shouts. Seems that the Weintein Company and Dimension Films are getting the ball rolling on it, and Glen Larson himself seems to be penning the script.
Exactly how cool was Knight Rider back in its day? Who among us did not day dream about dad’s car suddenly starting to talk to us in that KITT voice? Who here can honestly say they didn’t catch themselves humming “da da…. da da…. dada dada dada” at least once a week? Oh yes my friends, Knight Rider was the shit. The good folks over at AICN report the following to us:
Apparently the movie is being written by Glen Larson – yeah, that Glen Larson – who is planning on making it a darker film, though he wants to keep it PG 13 cuz he doesn’t want to alienate the core audience… Because everyone that grew up loving that show from 1982-1986 are still under 13.
Meh, Knight Rider is one of those films that doesn’t need to be “R” rated.
So far there doesn’t seem to be any word if David Hasslehoff will be in it (Oh man it would be a MAJOR mistake to put him in it) or if they’ll be getting William Daniels back to be the voice of KITT (It would be equally stupid for them NOT to get him back). No word on a schedule yet… but I’d expect some major announcements in the next 2 months.
