Tom Cruise is NOT Iron Man

Iron Man fans around the world can now let out a collective sigh of relief. The Iron Man movie director, Jon Favreau has announced that he is going to make sure that he casts a relative unknown to play the guy in the body armour (which is what we’ve been saying he should do all along). So no Tom Cruise. Yay! (Although to be honest… even though the little bastard now irritates the hell out of me, I can’t deny he’s a GREAT actor… and probably would have done a good job in the role).

As Brian Singer said, when you get an iconic character (like Iron Man), and put a big name star in the role, it deminishes that character. You look at the screen and you see the big name star a little instead of just the character. I don’t know if I 100% agree with that… but there is truth to it.

So let the debate and speculation on who should play Iron Man rage on!

My opinion? It doesn’t matter who the hell plays Iron Man. All the good stuff will be when he’s wearing the damn Iron suite with the mask on anyway. Cast Martha Stewart for all I care.
