Hellboy 2 Still A Go

A few weeks ago it was announced that Sony had dropped Hellboy 2 from its line up. A lot of fans of the film feared that meant there would be no Hellboy 2. I always said there would be, because there is money to be made. Looks like I was right.

In a recent interview director Guillermo Del Toro said as far as he’s concerned things for Hellboy 2 are still moving along, and the Sony thing is just a small bump:

“We’re moving studios right now,” says Del Toro. “They don’t have a deal with Sony any more and we are looking for financing for HELLBOY 2. It’s at Paramount right now. It’s bigger in scale, but not necessarily in budget. Abe Sapien has a much bigger part, and we’re keeping closer to the mythology of the comics.“ Del Toro giggled with glee as he revealed a singer whose music would be part of the film. “There is a song by Barry Manilow, and you’ll have to find out about how that fits in. I know you are all saying ‘what the f**k is that?!’“ -IFMAGAZINE

TO me this is great to hear. The first Hellboy was a thoroughly enjoyable film, and I’m dying to see that character on the screen again.
