Hitman Script Reviewed

Hey look! A video game movie NOT directed by Uwe Boll. Well technically no one is officially directing Hitman yet, so there is still a chance he might get the gig. I hope not.

Not familiar with Hitman the game? I will let the guys at Cinema Blend nutshell it for you:

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the game, allow me to first fill you in on a dose of geekdom: The Hitman series by Eidos Interactive centers on a genetically engineered soldier named simply “47”,[Vin Diesel] derived from the barcode on the back of his head. Developed as the perfect killing machine, 47 uses stealth, secrecy, deception and when unavoidable, brute force and impressive firepower to take down his mark.

As much of a gamer geek that I am, I haven’t been impressed by the Hitman franchise. Although with a loose premise of this video game (He is a Hitman. I get it) the story could be anything.

The plot was revealed and to me, it would be a good action flick if it was given the Hitman title or not. Put Vin Diesel in a role where his very job description means he has to kill people and carry guns, and its guaranteed to be senseless action fluff anyways. Decent stories that are adapted to fit into the premise of a video game are just marketing tools and nothing more. They want to attach the popularity of the game and a charasmatic action star to attract interest in the movie.

And maybe sell some copies of the game at the same time.
