Idiocracy Ironically Hibernates

idiocracy.jpgAm I the only one who finds it funny that a movie in which the premise is a man who gets put into an artificial hibernation is now suspended in release limbo?

Cinema Blend quotes Mike Judge on this delay:

Essentially the studios have whittled down Judge and his movie, insisting certain executives needed to see the movie before they could proceed, causing issues with special effects costs (which he settled by getting his friend Robert Rodriguez to do for free), and now meddling endlessly with the marketing of the movie. Sadly this isn’t an area new to Judge, who suffered through the miss-marketing of Office Space, which eventually grew to become a cult favorite.

So is this a studio interferance thing? Does it really suck?

The movie is done. After all that effort why wouldnt they put it out? At very least, you would think they would try to recoup some of its production costs with a direct to dvd release or something. Heck, they could sell it to a network.

Or maybe its just that bad.
