Jewish Producer Defends Mel Gibson

Late last week I put up a post saying that there is an unjustified witch hunt going on for Mel Gibson.  The man said something while hammered… something stupid and idiotic.  But call me crazy… I was brought up to believe that until a person actually DOES something racist, then you should give him the benefit of the doubt.

Gibson hasn’t ever DONE anything anti-semetic. Nothing.  No unfair hiring practices, never refusing to work with people or treat people any diferently than anyone else because of their race.  Like I said… Call me crazy, but the society I believe in doesn’t condem someone who hasn’t actually DONE anything yet.

Well it looks like I’m not the only one who thinks so. Producer Dean Devlin, a Jewish man who worked on “The Patriot” with Mel Gibson has come out to defend the man.  Hollywood.Com gives us this:

And Devlin, who worked with the star on The Patriot, is prepared to forgive the rant, branding alcohol the cause of the outburst. He says, “If Mel is an anti-Semite, then he spends a lot of time with us, which makes no sense.

“But he is an alcoholic, and while that makes no excuse for what he said, because there is no excuse, I believe it was the disease speaking, not the man.”

Now, as I’ve said before, I think Gibson should be in jail right now for drunk driving… 3-5 years as far as I’m concerned.

Who knows, maybe Mel Gibson is an Anti-Semite.  That is POSSIBLE.  But until the man DOES something to show it, acts in some racist way or actually discriminates against someone… then I will give him the benefit of the doubt.  I’m not the thought police.

But damn… that is a crazy ass picture of Mel.
