While everyone wrongly engaged in the Mel Gibson witch hunt, a very important thing was overlooked that no one talked about. Gibson was drinking and driving and could have KILLED someone.
To me, there should be no question… Gibson should go to jail… 5 years minimum. But the sad fact of the matter in this culture is that we don’t put people away from Drinking and Driving. We just slap them on the wrist until they kill someone’s kid or parent or friend. That my friends… is SICK.

Mel Gibson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor drunken-driving charge Thursday and was sentenced to three years’ probation, the district attorney’s office said.
Gibson volunteered to do public-service announcements on the hazards of drinking and driving, and to immediately enter rehabilitation, Satriano said.
I’ll be honest… 3 years probation is more than I thought he’d get. But still… this is a joke. He put other people’s lives at risk, and he gets a slap on the wrist. Sad commentary on our society.
