Sony forecasts Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

meatballs.jpgA children’s book getting a movie deal. This one sounds crazy enough that it just might work. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is to be a feature film produced by Sony Pictures Animation.
Cinescape says:

The film will be based on the book by Judi and Ron Barrett which is set in a fanciful world where it rains juice and snows mashed potatoes and spaghetti. The movie’s plot will center around a scientist who tries to solve world hunger only to see things go awry as food falls from the sky in abundance.

This “careful what you wish for” type of story is just the kind of thing I like to show my kids. It should be interesting to see how they expand the story found on 32 illustrated pages into a 90 minute feature.

Not much more is known about the project.
