Edward Furlong is the luckiest kid in Hollywood. His acting career was accellerated the day he put a quarter in a video game and a casting agent decided he would be a perfect John Connor in the legendary sequel to Terminator. Since then he has been in a handful of notable films, but nothing of serious acclaim.
Furlong might be changing gears and heading to the small screen soon. It won’t be as part of The Sarah Connor Chronicles as you might expect, but rather the upcoming Star Wars TV series. TV Guide writer Michael Ausiello recently asked Furlong what he was working on next, and his reply was “Some CSI, and then maybe the Star Wars TV series, man.”
Granted we have to chalk this one up as a casting rumour. He did say maybe.
Personally, I just hope they do a fantastic series worthy of Star Wars. I mean, there are no more movies. You cannot remake Star Wars. (Sorry Trekkers, you can be remade) And all we have to cling to is the hopes that the TV series actually has some worth.
I do have my reservations since the CW Network (formerly the WB) is doing it. This means two things to the future of Star Wars. There will be some big money behind the production. This can mean good things. And there will likely be a cameo appearance by CW’s artist of the Week. Maybe even a tie in storyline to Gilmore Girls or One Tree Hill.
Furlong attached as a Jedi? I am sure he can do it. He often plays conflicted and passionate characters, so a Jedi who survives the slaughter in Episode 3 would be quite interesting.
