It has been every fan of the genres wet dream. Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash (come one, no contest! Anyone short of Jesus himself and Bruce Campbell wins!!! Bruce Campbell vs. Batman would be interesting too). This rumor has been on and off ever since the first Freddy vs. Jason came out. As far as I knew, sadly, the project was a no go.
But earlier this morning I’m reading an article over at CommingSoon that has an interview with Jet Li’s Fearless director Ronny Yu, who also happened to direct the first Freddy vs. Jason. It’s an interesting interview… until right at the very end this comes up:
ComingSoon: Any chance you might direct a sequel to “Freddy vs. Jason” if New Line decides to do one?
Ronny Yu: Yeah, they’ve been talking about it, and they even talk about bringing Ash [from Sam Raimi’s “Evil Dead” movies] into the equation, and I thought it’s terrific. It’s almost like an updated version of “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.” If they really want to do it and they want me to do it, I’d love to do it. It would be a lot of fun.
Oh my sweet heavens!! PLEASE tell me this is going to happen. I’m not going to let my hopes get too far up… but this would be so amazing. After “The Transformers” this would instantly be the movie I’d be most looking forward to!
