Jet Li Confirms Movie With Jackie Chan

For years its been a martial arts fan’s wet dream to see a movie with Jackie Chan and Jet Li together. The last time a martial arts film was made with 2 big stars of the genre that I can remember was way back in 1988 with Black Eagle with Jean-Claude Van Dame and the great Sho Kosugi.

Well now, Jet Li is confirming himself that a movie with he and Jackie Chan is indeed in the works. The good folks over at blackfilm give us the following:

BlackFilm: Is there any truth to the rumor that you and Jackie Chan will finally make a film together?

Jet Li: Always there’s rumors, rumors, rumors, for 15 years, but now… it’s true! Next April, we’re going to make a movie. Everybody’s waiting for the producer and the director to announce.

So there you have it! A Jet Li and Jackie Chan movie is on the way! Celebration time right? Well… not so fast.

Jackie Chan has been talking a lot recently about wanting to quit martial arts films… that he wants to be a more serious actor. Jet Li’s newest film “Fearless” is being touted as Li’s FINAL martial arts film. So what on earth would a Chan/Li film be?

I know this will make me appear narrow minded… but if a Jet Li/Jackie Chan ISN’T a martial arts film… then I just don’t know that I have any interest in it whatsoever. What a total waste of an opportunity that would be.
