Meg Ryan is considering the staring role in the new George Gallo movie entitled Homeland Security. The good people over at digitalspy.com give us this:
According to Production Weekly, the actress has been lined up to take the place of Annette Bening, who was previously attached to the project.
Described as in the mould of Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief, the film will also feature Antonio Banderas in a leading role.
Written and directed by George Gallo, the project begins principal photography next month in Louisiana.
Two attractive, mature stars playing in a mystery molded after Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief? Wait a second, a movie that seems to be actually geared towards the rich baby boomer market that’s at least loosely based off a good movie? Run for your lives, the dead have come back to life!
Ok I am not a baby boomer, not even close but I am a mature person and I like to see a variety of different films out there, some gear to my demographic and some geared to a higher one. The people making this film are smart because most of the industry is ignoring the baby boomer market and seem to be blind to the fact that not just boomers like these types of films.
I am so glad to see this movie is being made, I am sick to death of teen flicks, of man flicks and just well…the same sort of stuff. I haven’t seen Meg Ryan in anything in a while and it will be nice to see Antonio in a more grown up movie (please Antonio, no more Spy Kids movies!).
Will this actually be a good movie? Not sure, Annette Bening did drop out, there could be a reason for that, but overall I’m just glad that they are still making movies that require actors and actresses over the age of 25.
