The people over at Slashfilm.com released this little news tidbit today:
Warner Bros has decided to scrap plans to release Happy Feet in IMAX 3D.
So Warner Brothers isn’t going to release this movie in 3D theaters. And my practical side agrees with them. Some of the reasons why they have decided against it are probably A) the 3D animation conversion costs…ten million dollars! Jesus ok, yes I can see how that would be a gamble B) The Ant Bully’s 3D run did not do very well at all and C) They have lost the child like ability to imagine.
Yes, that’s right the people over at Warner Brothers have lost that Santa twinkle in their eyes. This is coming out in November, close to December and it’s a movie about penguins! Come on let the kids see it in 3D for Christmas.
Here is what the movie is about: Into the world of the Emperor Penguins, who find their soul mates through song, a penguin is born who cannot sing. But he can tap dance something fierce!
Usually I am not a big fan of cartoon movies, they for kids, but I really like the look of this one, it has great music, a fantastic cast (Robin Williams, Brittany Murphy, Nicole Kidman) and it seems very funny. The Aunt Bully came out in the summer maybe that’s why the 3D thing wasn’t as popular ( also Ant Bully just didn’t seem to appeal that much to the adult crowd). Winter movies most of the time fair better, especially kid movies, especially ones on ice (hello Ice Age and Ice Age 2) and it would be SO COOL to see the penguins slipping and sliding through their little world in 3D and…. it’ A PENGUIN MOVIE COMING OUT NEAR CHRISTMAS!
Few! Ok that is all. I’m going to go get a damned popsicle.
