We all remember a long time ago the celebrated announcement that Uwe Boll offered an open challenge for a boxing match against any 5 film critics who have blasted his work. The vast majority of people in the online film community thought it was hilarious… and hundreds of people submitted their names to be considered. Everyone thought it would be hilarious to have a shot at Boll. Well… be careful what you wish for.
It was no secret that Boll had a boxing background, so people signing up knew what they were getting into. In the following video, Carlos from CineCuture was the first up to “take his shot” at Boll. Well… Boll beat his ass. In the end, the critic just gave up.
Boll just emabrassed the guy. An honestly, you could tell Boll was really taking it easy on him too. When Boll had him in trouble, he never went in for “the kill”. When the guy was hurt, you could see Boll backing off a bit, so full credit to him.
Boll did this as a pure publicity stunt… and we ate it up. Dispite the fact that he’s a big man, and had boxing experience, I think a lot of people evisioned critics walking in there to punish Boll. Yay! We’d see Boll get his for making all those crappy movies. Yeah well it didn’t quite work out that way.
