Weta on Fantastic Four to do the Silver Surfer

When I dared suggest that the Hobbit could be done without Peter Jackson, the only other protest was that Weta Digital just had to be on to do the effects. They are a fine special effects studio, and I have no doubt they will do a good job. Looks like those dying for a taste of Weta’s magic will get to see it on another big franchise.

Coming Soon says:

20th Century Fox has picked Academy Award-winning visual effects house Weta Digital to oversee the upcoming film Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer. The studio tapped Weta to create a state-of-the-art version of the Marvel Comics character Silver Surfer.

I think this is a great choice. Other special effects companies might do a good job too, but Weta really mastered using a CGi character that looks REAL and NATURAL. One of the most convincing digital characters ever was Golem. It looks like the same motion capture technology that made Golem look so real will be used to make the Surfer look natural too.

I just wonder who will be the voice of Norrin Radd will be?
