Wolverine Movie in 2008?

I have to admit that in my years of collecting comics, I resisted Wolverine the longest. It just seemed trendy to have to love the character of Wolverine. He was everyone’s favourite. I tried to dislike the character. I really did.

I didnt. He is the most intriguing and mysterious character throughout the entire XMen comic books and spin-offs. So to see him on the big screen was a great experience. Jackman captured him perfectly. So I am not the least bit surprised that among all the XMen to get their own movies, Wolverine makes the most sense.

ComicBook Movie.com says:

Hugh Jackman says he’s hoping to begin filming his X-Men spin-off film, Wolverine, sometime next year.

That would mean a 2008 debut for the film.

Jackman recently talked to Comics Continuum while promoting the Oct. 2 release of X-Men: The Last Stand on DVD.

“For me as an actor, it’s an amazing part,” Jackman said. “I think Wolverine, in, not just the comic-book genre, but any kind of action movie, is one of the great parts. I love playing him, and it’s a challenge.”

This news is good news indeed. I do hope that they attach a great story to this character. He deserves it.

Sure they will deal with his mysterious past, and I hope they do some flashbacks of Logan in times before his apparent age as they have suggested were part of his past. For a villian, I think it wouldnt make any sense to have anyone but Sabretooth. I just hope that they can build his character into something more than a grunting animal.

Perhaps if this works well, they might delve into some of the other XMen. There is already news about a Magneto movie and the idea that XMen 4 will lack Wolverine, Cyclops and Storm.

I personally would love to see a Nightcrawler film. Maybe they will include him in the Wolverine film. Kurt and Logan were always closest of friends in the XBooks.
