Zooey Deschanel is Janis Joplin

Musical Biopics always seem to draw a lot of attention. Sissy Spacek did Loretta Lynn, Val Kilmer captured Jim Morrison and Joaquin Phoenix did Johnny Cash. All of which were praised for their efforts. Then news that a Janis Joplin movie was in the works.

Filmwad posts:

After years and years of trying to get a Janis Joplin biopic off the ground, it appears that one will finally go before cameras this November. Zooey Deschanel has officially signed on to replace singer Pink in Penelope Spheeris’ THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JANIS, which will begin filming on November 13th in Philadelphia.

I have to say I do like Pink. As a musical artist.

This is not something that a music star needs to use as a breaking role. (Easy John, get away from that Comment button.. we know how you feel about musical artists getting lead roles in movies) On the other hand Zooey Deschanel has already a hand up on Pink in that she has BEEN IN STUFF. I do like Zooey, and I always like to see her on screen. She also has some singing ability, and is currently training to actually sing the music of Janis Joplin.

I have actually increased my interest in this 500%.
