Rumor has it that there are some people out there who didn’t like X-Men 3. Really? KIDDING! I know there are lots of folks out there who disliked the third installment of the franchise. But as I’ve said before, I’m not one of them. I liked X-Men 3. Was it everything I hoped it would be? Nope. Was it as good as the first 2? Nope. But I walked out of the theater having had a good time… and that’s all I can really ask.
There will indeed be an X-Men 4, but who will be directing it is obviously unknown. But we do know that Brett Ratner would like a shot at the directors chair again for the next installment. The good folks over at Moviehole give us this:
“It [an “X-Men 4”] wasn’t in the plan, but I loved the experience of it, and I loved all the actors, and I would definitely do it again if they asked me to come back. I had that little thing [at the end] where Magneto moved the [chess] piece.
Yeah, I LOVED that little part at the end! The whole theater I was in went nuts.
Anyway, back to Ratner. Would I like to see him back for X-Men 4? Quite frankly no. Yes, I think he did an ok job (It’s all the rage to talk about how much he sucks, but I think a lot of people blow it way out of proportion), but I wasn’t thrilled with it, and if they can’t get Singer back to direct (who is apparently going to be busy working on the next Superman movie) then I’d like to see another director take a shot at it. Maybe a buy like John McTiernan, Sam Mendes or another director in that vein.
