Big Films 4 Food Fest News!

Hey there folks, John here. As most of you know already, we’re holding the first Movie Blog Films 4 Food Fest on Saturday January 20th here in Hamilton, Ontario (that’s about 40 minutes from Toronto). We would love you ALL to plan to come down for the event. Meet us, meet each other, hang out for the day watching movies and participating in the events. It’s going to be a great day!

Today we finalized getting the rights to show the thrid film for the event. Up until now we haven’t been able to announce it becuase we didn’t have permission yet… well thanks to the great folks over at Anchor Bay Entertainment, we have that permission now!

Joining Clerks 2 and Shaun of the Dead as the third film at the Films 4 Food Fest is the amaing “BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESSLIE VERNON” And we couldn’t be more thrilled!!! We’re getting to show you guys this film a MONTH before it even hits theaters!

Here is what my good friend Todd Brown over at Twitchfilm.Net has to say about Behind the Mask:

” Set in an alternate reality where Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Mike Myers and all the great slasher icons of yore are real, actual people Scott Glosserman’s debut feature Behind the Mask introduces a new icon to the mix: Leslie Vernon. A troubled soul with a horrific past Vernon is in training to join the ranks of the great slasher villains. His mythology is in place, the setting is chosen, the target has been selected. Vernon lacks only one thing: publicity. And so the aspiring mass murderer invites a documentary crew to visit him and chronicle his training regimen, the night of his assault and, ultimately, the rise of his legend.

Behind the Mask begins as a viciously smart deconstruction of the slasher film, a nuts and bolts breakdown of the formula that made the genre in the first place, all presented to the audience by Leslie Vernon, a friendly, funny, eminently likable young man who just so happens to want to kill people. But as the film progresses it slowly warps and mutates until it ceases to be a meta-film about slasher films and becomes a ripping slasher picture itself. In Leslie Vernon writer-director Glosserman has created such a strong, iconic character that by the time Robert Englund — that’s the real life Freddy Krueger, for you neophytes — turns up, he’s just icing on the cake.”

Make sure you come to this event. Here is some of the other things going on that day besides just the movies:

1) Live Recording of the Podcast of the Year “The Audio Edition”
For the first time ever, The Audio Edition will be recorded with a live studio audience. The regular Monday Round Table crew of Doug Nagy, Darren Conley, Bruxy Cavey and John Campea

2) Interactive Panel Discussion
This will be amazing. For 1 hour, the attendees of the Films 4 Food Fest will have the opportunity to ask questions and raise issues regarding films, their importance, their quality, their production and their relevance in our culture to be discussed by our panel that includes writers, filmmakers, movie pundits, comedians, heck even an athiest and a church leader! Should be fun! The panel discussion will be recorded and included in the Audio Edition which will then be put online for the world to hear. Todd from Twitchfilm.net, Sean from Filmjunk.com, Jay from The Documentary Blog, Serena from Joblo.Com’s Arrow in the Head, Mike from MoviesOnline.ca and a few people more!

3) COMEDY
We’re going to be treated to a special performance by Canadian comedians Doug Nagy and Jesse Bonner (not family friendly)
