Dennis Farina has been officially added to National Lampoon’s Bagboy. The people over at moviewebnews.com gave us this today:
Dennis Farina is joining Brooke Shields and Richard Kind in the comedy, National Lampoon’s Bagboy.
Set in the world of competitive grocery bagging, Farina plays a down-on-his-luck grocery store proprietor and onetime bagging champ who mentors an underdog teen, notes Variety. The film also stars Also cast are Paul Campbell, Marika Dominczyk, Robert Hoffman, Josh Dean, Nick Lashaway, Wesley Jonathan, Larry Miller, Lisa Darr and Bruce Altman. Mort Nathan rewrote the script for National Lampoon’s Bagboy will also direct the first in house feature for the company.
Looking at the premise of this movie and the cast makes me think this movie is either going to be a great popcorn flick, one that will make me laugh my head of or…it will be a stinking pile of horse manure. There will be no room for error with a movie based around grocery bagging competitions.
Until the first trailer comes out I really cannot tell which way Bag Boy will go. Dennis Farina is a great actor, I loved him in Snatch but he is not nearly enough to make this movie watchable on its own. Let’s hope there is a decent script. For the first in house film for National Lampoon this movie will be a real test. Let’s hope it doesn’t test the audience too much.
