It’s been one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood, but it’s now official… J.J. Abrams is indeed the director for the next Star Trek incarnation. Movieweb has this:
Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman said earlier this week that J.J. Abrams (Lost) will be directing Star Trek XI.
“We’re revitalizing it in a new and interesting way,” he said.
The studio plans to bring the film to theaters in 2008 or 2009. Lost creative team, Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk are teaming with Abrams to write the project.
And my big reaction to this is…. YYYYAAAWWWWWNNNNNnnnnnn! Who cares? Star Trek is dead.
