Christopher sent me this link to Michael Bay’s blog where he talks about the new Transformers trailer he just finished and is getting ready to show to the public in a couple of days.
Here’s what Michael says about it:
Today I just finished the new teaser for Christmas and I think it’s AWESOME! The trailer mixing Guru who does all the big summer movies turned to me and said with a little more ump – it was “fucking awesome.”
I think some of my films have had good teasers but this one is just makes a statement. It’s hard edged to show we are not a silly “toy” movie. We show just hints of robots – and almost none of our epic shots are in this teaser, but the movie just looks big. I had a room full of 20 Tranformers adult geeks, and they all applauded at the end.
All I can say at this point is that IT BETTER BE FUCKING AWESOME! Paramount and Bay have totally botched the PR aspect of The Transformers. They should have been on the PR offensive this entire time… instead… they just keep mishandling information, letting leaks get out instead of being proactive about generating buzz… and worst of all… they have allowed negative buzz about this film grow for too long without proactivly attacking it. If the Transformers trailer isn’t “fucking awesome” the negative buzz will just be too implanted to do much about and they will have lost segment of their audience 6 months before the film even comes out. All I can do is hope for the best.
