The low budget film Crank that has had many people on the movie blog singing it’s praises is now getting financial praise from it’s big DVD sales. The people at imdb.com give us this:
Crank got off to an impressive start at DVD retailers and rental stores last week. The thriller sold 2 million copies in its first week in the stores, according to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert’s sales chart. Home Media Retail magazine estimated rental revenue at $6 million
I’m so happy that this movie is making some decent cash and getting seen by people, because really it has got to be one of the best action movies of 2006. Jason Statham is amazing in it and it got my heart pumping super fast just by sitting there and eating popcorn. The plot line is this: Professional assassin Chev Chelios (Statham) learns his rival (Cantillo) has injected him with a poison that will kill him if his heart rate drops. Yes, it even sounds good on paper.
Anyone who hasn’t seen this movie is completely missing out. Unless, of course you have a heart transplant or you are pregnant, then you should probably wait until you give birth or have taken your pills.
