Da Vinci Code Court Case Being Appealed

Remember back just before the opening of The Da Vinci Code in theaters the authors of the book “The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail” sued Da Vinci author Dan Brown from plagiarizing their ideas and concepts from their book and putting it in his own. If they had won, it COULD have delayed the release of the movie (too bad they didn’t win… the movie was a let down).

Anyway, the whole thing is back in court again being appealed. The lawyer for the plaintiffs is claiming the judge from the first trial made some mistakes in his interpretation and judgment and wants the appeals court to overturn the original decision.

Obviously this time around they can’t stop the movie. So my guess is that they’re just going after pure cash this time (fair enough, if Brown actually did steal their ideas).

So here’s my question. Did any of you read The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail? If so, do you think enough of it was stolen by Brown to warrant a breach of copyright? Remember, I’m not asking you which book you like better or if you liked the movie. My question is do the authors of The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail has a legitimate beef here?
