Luke Cage: Hero for Hire Update

I am the biggest Superhero Movie Junkie I know. I shamelessly like just about ANYTHING that gets put out that is based on a comicbook superhero. I just can’t get enough. I even thought Elektra wasnt that bad. So I catch wind of news that another superhero is on the horizon… well technically ALL of them are being considered to one degree or another, they just have to find enough time to do them.

MovieHole says:

Rising action hero – and film producer – in the making, Tyrese Gibson, talked to Crave Online about whether or not he’s still attached to play superhero Luke Cage in the feature film adaptation of the comic classic.

“If they get the script right”, Gibson, who’ll soon be kicking robot-butt in “Transformers”, says. “Right now me and [director] John Singleton are on standby waiting on them to get the screenplay right so we can do what we do.”

This is one of those titles that if someone asked me would ever get made into a movie, I would have been confident in responding “No”. The whole basis of the superhero is that he is superstrong and bulletproof. Whoopie!

Now a lot of people criticize Nicolas Cage for naming his son Kal, but it is little known that he was born Nicolas Coppola, and changed his name to Cage to strike out without his famous uncle’s (Francis Ford Coppola) name, and he chose Cage based on this character. So maybe the character is deeper than his bulletproof hide.

Maybe not.

Other rumours surrounding this project include Jamie Foxx as Cage, and Terrence Howard to play the villian Diamondback. Howard is currently in another Marvel Comic franchise project (Iron Man) which has potential to spinoff his supporting character role into its own feature.
