MEG Finally Shooting In Spring?

The giant prehistoric shark project called “MEG” is one we’ve been talking about here on The Movie Blog for over a year now. The film would have already been in production if it wasn’t for Chris Tucker demanding $25 million for Rush Hour 3. TV Guide told us back in May:

Alas, as MEG’s 2007 release nears, rumor has it that the escalating budget of New Line’s Rush Hour 3 is pushing “Jurassic Shark’s” premiere to 2008.

“Pushed back eventually got to “Put on the shelf”. But now, there may be some hope on the horizon for those of us looking forward to some giant shark attack action. The folks over at Horror-Movies.ca give us the following bit of good news:

Well MEG might not be running for president but it may finally start shooting this spring.

Luckily for us it looks like they will be back on the boat with Jan De Bont at the helm with a release in 2008. De Bont promises, “I have no doubt Meg will swim.”

Man I hope this turns out to be true. I’ve been waiting to see this film for a while now.
