National Treasure: The Book of Secrets

You know what, I actually didn’t hate National Treasure. No, it wasn’t any sort of classic, or even a “great” movie by any stretch of the imagination… but for what it was… a fun little Saturday Matinee flick… I appreciated it. The film also performed pretty well at the boxoffice, but not well enough that I actually expected a follow up. But, here it comes nonetheless.

The good folks over at Movieweb give us the following:

Buena Vista Pictures has officially announced the subtitle of the National Treasure sequel. It will be called National Treasure: The Book of Secrets. The subtitle refers to the 18 pages which are actually missing from John Wilkes Booth’s library; it will also possibly involve Abraham Lincoln.

They say they’re looking at a December 2007 release date, which is pretty ambitious considering they haven’t even started filming yet. I’d expect that release date to change. But we’ll wait and see.

As a side note… I FUCKING HATE this stupid idiotic trend of naming sequels without a fricking LOGICAL number beside them. If you MUST call it National Treasure: The Book of Secrets, for for goodness sake at least call it National Treasure 2: The Book of Secrets. Seriously, how hard is that. What if there are 5 National Treasure movies… and 6 or 7 years down the road someone goes into the video store (if they’re still around by then) and can’t fricking figure out what order the stupid things come in? Ok ok ok… I know I’m off on a tangent. Rant over.
