I am a big fan of Liam Neeson and thankfully the guy works often so I get my fill, now he will be staring in the new film Taken. The good folks over at movieweb.com give us this about it:
Liam Neeson has signed on to star in the drama, Taken for 20th Century Fox and Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp; Besson also co-wrote the screenplay.
Pierre Morel will be directing Neeson as an ex-soldier whose daughter is kidnapped by slave masters while traveling in Europe. The Hollywood Reporter adds the soldier must track her down before she’s shipped off and lost forever.
The premise of this one seems pretty predictable. You have to know that the movie will end most likely with him either rescuing his daughter in the nick of time or her dying and him saving another girl in her place. This “little girl needs saving” plot is completely ovrerused by Hollywood and it is bordering on offensive at this point. Maybe Taken will be more original but so far it looks like the same old stuff.
This film will no doubt find at least a small audience due to Neeson but I probably won’t even rent this one, because frankly I think I’d feel a bit taken.
