It’s very sad to say, but the reality is, unfortunate as it is, when we usually talk about some of the great actresses of the last 20 years or so, Sigourney Weaver’s name hardly ever comes up. Forget for a moment that’s she’s done some horrible films… forget for a moment that she’s famous for Aliens… just look at her do her job. She ALWAYS, and I mean 100% of the time knocks it out of the park. No matter how bad the script, how boring the character or how bad the film… Sigourney Weaver finds a way to bring some life to the person she’s playing. That’s a rare thing these days. Ok, tangent over.
There is word going around right now that Sigourney Weaver is getting ready to team up with James Cameron again for his next epic sci-fi flick Avatar. The good folks over at JoBlo give us this:
The last time Sigourney Weaver teamed up with James Cameron, the resulting film ALIENS became one of the most iconic sequels of all time. It seems they’re looking to strike gold twice as, according to a scooper for AICN, Cameron has cast Weaver in one of his upcoming big budget sci fi epics. The scooper relates that Weaver was on a French talk show and mentioned that she’d be working on a big budget sci fi film with Cameron but refused to elaborate further so it’s unclear whether she was talking about AVATAR or BATTLE ANGEL. (Though it stands to reason that she was talking about AVATAR as that’s the one currently in active development.)
And come on… how great was she in Galaxy Quest! :)
