One of the biggest obsticles of Downloadable movies is the lack of viewing formats that make it appealing to watch movies. Its all great that I can go online and legally download a movie in dvd quality with special features and the whole thing. Its just not so great that I have to watch them on my PC or iPod.
According to Yahoo News we might just have an option:
Amazon.com Inc. and
TiVo Inc. will begin testing on Wednesday a service that lets users watch videos rented or bought over the Internet directly on televisions, as part of a trend to link personal computers and TVs.The announcement from the two companies comes a day after Wal-Mart Stores Inc. introduced a test version of its video download service, which is the first by a major retailer to have the backing of all Hollywood’s major movies studios.
And by we, I mean Americans. Not us Canadians up here in the Great White North.
Tivo is only available in the US (to my knowlege) but if this service kicks off with as big of a bang as their stock market rise would suggest, then it may not be too long until this is going to happen here.
Imagine having a pay-per-view service without the restrictions of the 10-15 titles available each month? Would you be racking up the bills to download and watch these on your PVR?
I know I would.
I would just have to find enough time in the day to watch em all.
