Bionic Woman is Cast

Michelle-Ryan.jpgWith all the talk about a possible 6 Million Dollar Man movie (which if I’m not mistaken Jim Carrey was attached to appear in at one time) going on over the last couple of years, the plans and development for The Bionic Woman (the spin off show from The Six Million Dollar Man) has flown under most people’s radars. Well, it looks like things are moving forward, and the heir to Lindsay Wagner’s bionic ear has been cast.

The good folks over at the BBC give us this:

Former EastEnders star Michelle Ryan has landed the lead role in a remake of 1970s TV show The Bionic Woman. The 22-year-old, who played Zoe Slater in the BBC soap for five years, beat a host of Hollywood names to the role, according to industry paper Variety. She will play Jaime Sommers, a tennis professional whose body is rebuilt with electronic parts after an accident, giving her superhuman abilities.

I just can’t explain why, but I think the basic idea for this as a movie would have an actual chance of being pretty decent. As long as they didn’t go down the road of the Starsky and Hutch movie (just making it all one big stupid joke) then I think this film could have had legs. But, as a TV show… I just don’t see it happening or working. Oh well, guess we’ll have to just wait and see. Thanks to Lee for the heads up.
