Brian Cox Speaks about De-Aging in Wolverine

The simple fact that they are working on a Wolverine movie means he wont be in XMen 4, which I like. There is a plethora of other stories that they could tell in a movie. So I am pumped about Wolverine for more than one reason.

News spouts that it will take place 17 years ago, and this presents a problem for Brian Cox (William Stryker) who unlike Wolverine has apparently aged in the last 2 decades.

Comics2Film ports us an article quoting:

Brian Cox was on a BBC programme, Film 2007 talking about Running With Scissors, the presenter Jonathan Ross asked him about Wolverine to which Cox replied, ‘it’s set seventeen years ago, which is fine for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine doesn’t age but for me, I’m thinking they could what they did with Patrick and Ian for the start of the third one. I know my character is in it, they’ve asked me to be in it but that was a while ago now, it’s completely stalled so no start date as yet.’

For one scene in XMen 3 it wasnt that big of a deal. Effort spent to make the scene makes sense. But to change his image in EVERY scene he appears in the WOlverine movie? That would be quite the undertaking.

As cool as it sounds to see technology take this kind of leap, would it be worth it?

Would a different actor in the same role, a younger actor make more sense?
