Dame Judi Dench is a household name and her talent is legendary, perhaps that is why she knows she has nothing to prove by showing up to the Oscars and has instead scheduled her knee surgery for that particular day. The people over at cinematical.com give us the details:
One person you won’t get to see win an Oscar this year, even if she does win, is Dame Judi Dench. The six-time nominee (and the only actor to make the crossover from the Pierce Brosnan Bond films to the Daniel Craig Bond films) is unable to attend this year’s ceremony because she will be having a knee operation. Apparently she is fine with missing the event, though, and told reporters not to bet on her to win for her performance in Notes on a Scandal.
I don’t blame her one bit. As much as it is always an honor to be nominated when you are a practical British woman your health comes first (plus I am sure that having a camera pushed to your face to capture the moment you hear that you haven’t won is far less appealing than knee surgery).
Always a class act Dench is making her life easier and killing two birds with one stone, saving face and fixing knee.
Now if only she could seduce a Bond man one of these days….she’d see Oscars shoot at her like laser beams.
