Leonardo DiCaprio has made some handshakes recently with his role in Warner Brother’s new film Conspiricy of Fools, a film about the ill fated energy company Enron. The good people over at mostersandcritics.com give us the dirt:
Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio are teaming to tell the story of the Houston energy company, Enron that collapsed into bankruptcy when its officers were found guilty of fraudulent accounting and corruption. WB reportedly paid seven figures to option “Conspiracy of Fools” a book by New York Times reporter Kurt Eichenwald and for Sheldon Turner (‘The Longest Yard’) to pen script.
Well this could be a good movie, my mind immediately went to Catch Me if You Can but really that film and this one have almost opposite stories, one is of a child too smart for his own good taking everyone’s money, the other is about men acting as irresponsible as children with “pretend” money, little different. DiCaprio at this point in his career can pretty much choose any movie he wants. If he wants to wear a suit and act, not tumble out of buildings and fight mob bosses then I think he’s earned it.
This film may end up being pretty damned good. If it is a cross between The Insider and The Firm I don’t think anyone will be complaining. Considering the smart choices DiCaprio has made lately I wouldn’t be surprised if this film did very well indeed.
